Who We Are

Ted, Shawn and Ellis Composting Garlic Rows
The farmers...

Ted is a retired software engineer. After 29 years of computer time, he was ready to “play in the dirt”, where he finds himself most days between March and October. In his spare time, he likes to do gourd pyrography (www.theogourds.com) and enjoys play time with his grandson Ellis.

His wife Shawn is a traditional hide tanner and bead worker (www.reddeerdesigns.com). She currently teaches hide tanning at Salish Kootenai College (www.skc.edu). Shawn lovingly competes with Ted for “Ellis time”.

Marlee and Ellis
Their kids...

Marlee is responsible for helping her Dad realize that growing food is more important than sitting at a desk! She spent a year working with the Gallatin Valley Farm To School program in Bozeman, part of Grow Montana’s FoodCorps VISTA program (http://www.growmontana.ncat.org), has a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana and is currently working for the National Forest Foundation in Missoula (http://www.nationalforests.org). As well as being a new mamma.

Kailun on tractor
Kailun provided the muscle on the farm and enjoys sports and the outdoors. He has a AAS in Criminal Justice from Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. He is currently a yard foreman with BNSF in Minnesota, where he lives with his wife Heather and their son Isaac.

And grandchildren…

Ellis and Isaac are our pride and joy!
